Guilds
A guild is an organization of people who share a related interest or goal. In 2008, Business Honors began forming guilds based on students’ career-goal interests. Whether it is law school, consulting or investment banking, these student-organized and student-run guilds are connecting students together so they can pool their resources, knowledge and networks. There are two established guilds and we welcome interested current students to organize more.
Consulting Guild
The Consulting Guild grew into a separate organization at Mays Business School called the Horizons Program. This program was established to introduce students to career opportunities that they would not be exposed to through traditional on-campus resources. These individuals hold weekly meetings to help one another with interview preparation and networking opportunities and are paired up with a mentor in the consulting field.
Investment Banking Guild
The Investment Banking Guild also evolved into a part of the Horizons Program. This guild touches on jobs for accounting and finance majors in not only investment banking but venture capital, private equity and hedge fund jobs. Individuals in this guild are paired up with a mentor in one of the fields listed above and attend meetings to gain knowledge and experience.
