Incoming Freshman Applications

It has never been easier to apply to Business Honors.

As you complete your ApplyTexas application, select business (BUAD or BUAG) as your first choice of major and, on the Business Honors section, indicate that you are interested in being considered for the program. After you submit your ApplyTexas application to Texas A&M University, have your high school send a copy of your transcript to the Office of Admissions. We also require that you have at least one letter of recommendation submitted to the Office of Admissions. Their address is:

We will use your ApplyTexas application and the materials you send to the Office of Admissions to review you as an applicant for Business Honors. Please do not send any additional materials to our office; we will be reviewing applications online and cannot accommodate supplemental documents.

The selection process for Business Honors is separate from the admission process for Texas A&M, and being admitted to Texas A&M as a business major does not guarantee selection to Business Honors. Notification of selection to Business Honors is mailed separately from the Texas A&M admission decision.

Additionally, you should be aware that Business Honors is separate from the University Honors Program. It is possible to be in both, or one or the other, honors programs. For more information about the separate application process for University Honors, visit their website.

Selection to Business Honors is highly competitive.

*-  Average SAT score is based on a 1600 critical reading and math composite score, and does not include the writing score.

Requirements for applying to Business Honors

1. Choice of major - Choose business (BUAD or BUAG) as your first choice of major.
2. Test scores - Have a combined score of at least 1250 on the critical reading and math sections of the SAT or 28 on the ACT. This is your highest one day test score. Have your official SAT or ACT scores sent directly to Texas A&M from the testing agency.
3. Class rank - Be in the top quarter of your high school class. If you are home schooled or if your high school does not rank, you may still apply.
4. Business Honors - Indicate your interest in being considered for the program on the ApplyTexas Application. Select “yes” in the Business Honors field of the application. If you did not indicate your interest on the ApplyTexas application, read the section below for instructions on how to be considered at a later date.
5. Deadline - All application materials must be received by January 15, 2012. If you did not indicate your interest in Business Honors on the ApplyTexas application, the deadline to contact Business Honors about being considered is January 15, 2012.
6. Transcript - An official transcript must be sent by your high school to the Office of Admissions. If your high school does not rank, include a statement from your high school stating its policy, a copy of your school’s profile and a grade distribution. Send your transcript directly to the Office of Admissions. Business Honors does not need a separate copy.
7. Letter of recommendation - Send at least one letter of recommendation to the Office of Admissions at Texas A&M. Your letter of recommendation must be from an academic source (preferably a teacher). Do not mail letters to Business Honors. If you didn’t request Business Honors on ApplyTexas

If you did not indicate interest in Business Honors on the ApplyTexas Application, but would like to be in the applicant pool, please contact us.

   1. Your name as it appears on your ApplyTexas application

4. Tell us that you want to be considered for Business Honors and that you have completed the application process for Texas A&M.
5. Please ensure that you have satisfied the requirements as listed above for applying to Business Honors.
